Sam Asthana, DDS (He/Him) is a Houston-based saxophone performer with the goal of bringing new music to new audiences. In addition to performing as both a soloist and in chamber groups, Dr. Asthana's background also includes teaching saxophone, from a former private studio in Central Texas to teaching in summer institutes in the Greater Houston area. Recent performances include a concerto appearance with the San Antonio Saxophone Quartet. A longtime member of and advocate for the greater saxophone community, Dr. Asthana holds a Bachelor's degree in Saxophone Performance from Baylor University.
Outside of his musical pursuits, Dr. Asthana is a board-certified general dentist. He practices in the Southwest Houston area, where he takes a special interest in modern and cosmetic restorative dentistry, oral-systemic health and preventative treatment, clear aligner orthodontia, digital workflow dentistry, and orofacial pain disorders and dysfunction. Dr. Asthana earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center of San Antonio, where he also earned a distinction in education, recognition for research, and honors in leadership from the International College of Dentists, the Academy of General Dentistry, and other organizations. Dr. Asthana holds a robust involvement in the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association, and the American Association of Clear Aligners.
