Nikolas Wayne Kanazawa Wriston started studying the saxophone at the age of twelve. After graduated from the Musashino Academia Musicae affiliated High School, Nikolas earned his Bachelor’s degree from the Department of Virtuoso at the Musashino Music College. His primary teachers included Natsumi Otaki and Katsuki Tochio. He also studied chamber music with Tatsuo Sumita, Eiji Miyashita, Susumu Takahisa, Hirokazu Hayashida, and Katsuki Tochio. Additionally, he was selected in Otis Murphy’s class at the 23rd and 25th Hamamatsu International Wind Academy and Festival.

Nikolas has performed in many concerts throughout Japan, including the Musashino Academia Musicae affiliated High School Graduation Concert, the 19th and 21st Concert by Affiliated High School Students and New Graduates, the 11th Reception Concert hosted by Kunitachi Music University Affiliated High School, the New Stream Concert, and Musashino College of Music Graduation Concert. He also performed the suite “Hary Janos” at the Japan and Hungary 150th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations / 90th Anniversary Ceremony of Musashino Academia Musicae concert, and the Gyor Philharmonic Orchestra Concert.

Nikolas has won several awards, including the first prize at the 9th Yokohama International Music Competition (saxophone-high school division), the “Encouragement Award” at the 3rd K Saxophone Competition (saxophone-university division), and the fellowship of Naoaki Fukui Scholarship in 2014, 2015, and 2019.
