Magdalena Jakubska-Szymiec graduated from the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice in the saxophone class of Bernard Steuer (diploma with honours). She continued her studies under Radek Knop at the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional Perpignan Méditerranée in France. She has been perfecting her skills under the guidance of outstanding saxophonists such as Claude Delangle, Jean-Marie Londeix, Eugene Rousseau, Claus Olesen or Joël Versavaud. She obtained a postdoctoral degree in musical arts (DMus Hab.) in 2020 at the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań, where she runs a saxophone class as an assistant professor.

She is a laureate of numerous awards, incl. the Grand Prix and Apollo’s Chariot at the All-Polish Young Musician Competition in Szczecinek (1998), the 1st prize at the 27th All-Polish Competition for Chamber Ensembles of Music Schools in Wrocław (1999), the 2nd prize at the 1st International Saxophone Competition in Opole (2001) or the 1st prize at the Yamaha Foundation Scholarship Competition (2006). She was awarded a scholarship of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage three times (1997, 1998, 2000) and received a scholarship of the Polish Children’s Fund twice (1999, 2000). She collaborates with the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Silesian Philharmonic, the New Music Orchestra and the Aukso Chamber Orchestra. As a chamber musician, she works with pianist Joanna Balewska and co-creates The Six & Sax Duo. She is invited to sit on the juries of national and international saxophone competitions and as a lecturer to hold courses for teachers, students and pupils organized by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

Her phonographic output includes three albums: Łukasz Woś. Works for saxophone and piano (Soliton SL 468-2, publ. 2016), recorded with Joanna Balewska, (Re)discovering Masterpieces of New Romanticism (JBRecords 023-2, publ. 2018), recorded with the accompaniment of the Radom Chamber Orchestra conducted by Jan Jakub Bokun and New Dimension (Sarton 036-2, publ. 2021), recorded with Grzegorz Szymiec by The Six and Sax Duo.
